I was shocked to hear about all three deaths.

I was introduced to James Brown by my mother as a child. She was a die hard fan of James. She and her bestfriend went to every concert he had when he came to St. Louis. She swears on one of his live concerts it was her best friend screaming through the whole song. She and her friend would chase James's car to the airport after each concert and he would wave at them out the window.

Mike Evans was the first Lionel and co-creator of Good Times one of my favorite childhood shows. He opened the door for other black sitcoms.

Gerald Ford is probably one of the first presidents I remember as a child.

Thanks for posting this, LaShaunda. I had no idea that Mike Evans had died. In fact I never really knew his real name or that he was also the creator for Good Times. We always called him "the first Lionel" or "the good Lionel." I wonder if he based Good Times on his real life and if the character militant Micheal was based on a young him. In any case, this has been a sad year. We have lost so many talented people this year.

Happy New Year!
