Surprise - You're Pregnant

I received a major surprise last week, one that through me for a loop. To be honest I’ve still haven’t recovered. I’m one who loves surprises, but this one, I didn’t see coming. Or should I say I ignored the signs. They were there, bright as neon lights on Broadway. I was in Nah land.

What open my eyes to the real world? A BOOK. I was reading Best Kept Secrets by Rochelle Alers. The female characters had symptoms that made me think about my own symptoms. Could it be? No way. I was done, couldn’t be.

The next morning I decided to check for myself. I couldn’t remember the instructions, so I had to wait until later to be sure.

Two lines, the stick said two lines. No way!

I read the instructions, two lines means POSITIVE.

Oh Lord!

Six years and two kids later, I thought I was done in the baby making business. The Lord has other plans. You’d think after all these years I’d learn I can’t plan my life.

I’m having a baby. YEP I’m still in shock. The hubby is in shock and the kids are ecstatic.

It’s sinking in because this little baby is making it known he’s there.

Pray for me.

SUPER Congratulations! Doesn't God have a wonderful plan (and sense of humor)?

The same thing happened to me two years ago. Just weeks after relocating to FL, found out our family was expanding. Hubby in shock. Me in shock. 2 excited big brothers.

Had just decided to really pursue writing. Had to back burner that. Only so much energy to go around and I tend to have difficult pregnancies.

But two years later, we have a rambunctious third son who keeps us laughing.

Many blessings to you and your family.

Thanks Camy and Patricia,

I'm finally use to the idea :)

It's scary and exciting all rolled up in one.

I'm still going to write, I'll find the energy somewhere.

Now the fun comes with figuring out a name.

Congratulations:
We all think we know when we are through with certain areas of our lives and God just let's us know who is the boss.

Yet, it still is a good blessing. I love children.

Congratulations, LaShaunda! Yep, God's plans are mysterious. Just two instances of His baby plans.

When I first got back to Canada after a 10-year absence, I met a couple. She was a very active person, always on the go. She realized that she needed something, so she told us, to slow down. And she prayed. She had two young girls. So what did God give her: another daughter. This one became a model at an early age. I can remember her modelling clothes at the fair. But the last times I saw mention of her in our church bulletin, the girl needed prayer for illness. I was, and think I still am, on that list as well. I'm not sure what her problems were but they sure kept Jeanette going. J. then lost her husband about 2 years ago, even her youngest daughter got married and she was alone when I last spoke to her. But she's as bubbly as ever. She has not let problems hinder her or forsaken God who never forsakes us.

When my sister and brother-in-law bought a lodge close to Georgian Bay on Lake Huron, they thought their family was complete. My sister had 2 sons and a daughter interspesed with 3 miscarriages. Two years into their move to the lodge, she found herself pregnant again. The baby was due in Dec. So she had to carry him all through the summer, their busy time at the lodge. Besides that, she often worked night shifts as a nurse, her previous job. (I didn't find that out until recently. I thought she only worked during the off-season.)

Anyway, she survived and so did the baby, another boy whom they named Matthew. He will be 18 on Dec. 21. He was born the day that the Pan-Am plane exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland. I think in almost every way, he was her easiest child: quiet, contented and more seen than heard. He was definitely their surprise baby although my brother-in-law had wanted a whole hockey team. But three miscarriages/still-births took their toll on everyone. But they got a real honey to compensate. He's now going into law enforcement.

I hope your pregnancy will be easy but even if it isn't, you know where your strength will come from. I once recently asked my sister how she felt that her two sisters-in-law both had healthy, no-pregnancy problems babies out of wedlock when she lost three babies. She said that hadn't really bothered her but that seeing pregnant women just after she lost each of the 3 had. But she said it definitely taught her compassion. As a nurse and Christian, I think those were really important lessons.

I hope everything will go easily for you. How old are your other two? May God be your blessing and that of your child and your whole family. I've never had children of my own though I've taken care of plenty of them. Being a mother is definitely not an easy job. But you know who holds the future.

Congratulations! God does have a way of showing us what it means when we say "In His time", doesn't He?
